SEO feels like a tangled mess of jargon, shifting rules, and endless checklists. One expert says focus on keywords. Another says links. Another says technical wizardry. All of them are selling something, and none of them agree.
This site was built to cut through that noise with one formula:
Opportunity + Authority = Results.
Everything published here — every guide, every expert profile, every diagnostic — exists to answer the same two questions. Does this activity help you capture Opportunity: being present and relevant where your audience is actually looking? Does it help you build Authority: the credibility that convinces both search engines and humans that you're the right answer? If a tactic doesn't serve one of those two, it's noise, and you'll find it called noise here.
What You'll Find
The framework is the theory: what the two sides of the equation actually are, why they multiply rather than add, and how E-E-A-T fits. The diagnostic is the tool: four patterns that tell you which side of your SEO is broken before you spend money on the wrong one.
The discipline guides put every major SEO practice through the same lens: technical SEO, on-page SEO, keyword research, content marketing, link building, and local SEO.
The Expert Series analyses the practitioners who shaped the craft — from Rand Fishkin to Marie Haynes to Koray Tuğberk GÜBÜR — and maps each of their methods onto the framework, so you can find the thinker who specialises in your specific weakness instead of bouncing between conflicting advice.
Who's Behind It
I'm Timmy Brown. Head of Marketing at a NZ fintech, based in Wanaka, with 10+ years in New Zealand digital marketing — including years running SEO for property and mortgage businesses where rankings translated directly into revenue, not applause. I wrote Marketing Curious: Working the Noise, the book where the Opportunity + Authority model first took shape.
I built this site because a clear framework beats a long checklist. The model gives you the "why" behind every SEO task, which means you can prioritise, and prioritising is the whole game. The goal is simple: stop chasing vanity metrics, figure out which side of the equation is failing you, and fix that.
The full story — the other frameworks, the book, the rest of the system this site belongs to — lives at timmybrown.co.nz. The neighbouring sites are on the ecosystem page.
